Afa ne AFA
The Artistry of AFA NE AFA is a reflection of the spiritual and philosophical journey of its members: Megborna and Kwame Brenya. Through the exploration of their respective traditions, they create a space where ancient practices find new life in contemporary sounds, interwoven with elements of peotry, philosophy and music. Their sound is deeply grounded in African spiritual and cultural knowledge systems; Megaborna’s Afro Spiritual Groove and Anlo-Ewe knowledge systems, and Kwame Brenya’s Akom-based philosophies and Palm Wine Music, serve as the cornerstones for their work. Thogether, they delve into the metaphysical, physical cultural and spiritual dimensions of what it means to be Ghanian and African, presenting their interpretation through music that simultaneously looks to the past and embraces the present.

“KWAME BRENYA RELEASES FIRST JOINT ALBUM "AFRICAN SOMEBODY WITH NKYINKYIM BAND
“You ought to stand firm, behind us, so that we can prove to the world that when the African is given the chance, He can show the world that He is somebody.” — Dr. Kwame Nkrumah
This iconic declaration took on fresh meaning on August 27, 2025, when Ghanaian award-winning poet, wordsmith, spoken word artist, and musician Kwame Brenya released "African Somebody", his first joint album with the celebrated live music group Nkyinkyim Band.
The eight-track album blends Kwame Brenya’s spoken word mastery with Nkyinkyim Band’s dynamic instrumentation, exploring themes of identity, resilience, and unity. It features contributions from Ghanaian acts Megborna, Enam, Bugbede, and Kenya’s Mishu, reinforcing its pan-African spirit.
Although Kwame Brenya and Nkyinkyim Band had collaborated before, African Somebody marked their first full-length project together. Now streaming on all major platforms, the album stands as a powerful affirmation of Nkrumah’s vision: every African is indeed somebody.”
